Introduction

 

Niobium rods are made of niobium powder by forging and polishing. They are used in steel, metallurgy, atomic energy, superconductors, medical equipment, etc.

Niobium is a refractory metal. Refractory metals are metals with a higher melting point (1772°C) than platinum. In refractory metals, the energy required to hold individual atoms together is particularly high. Refractory metals have high melting points, low vapor pressure, high elastic modulus, and high thermal stability. Refractory metals are also characterized by a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Compared to other refractory metals, niobium has a relatively low density of only 8.6g/ cm3.
