Product Description

Introduction

Niobium rods are manufactured by forging and polishing high-purity niobium powder. They are widely used in industries such as steelmaking, metallurgy, atomic energy, superconductors, and medical equipment.

Niobium is a refractory metal — a group of metals characterised by extremely high melting points (above 1772°C), low vapour pressure, and excellent thermal stability. Among refractory metals, niobium has a relatively low density of only 8.6 g/cm³, combining strength and lightness with superior corrosion resistance.

Refractory metals, including niobium, also feature a low coefficient of thermal expansion, high elastic modulus, and excellent stability under extreme temperature conditions, making them valuable in high-performance applications.

Applications

Niobium and niobium alloy rods and wires are widely used in the fields of chemistry, electronics, aviation, and aerospace due to their high melting point, corrosion resistance, and excellent cold working properties.

Typical applications include:

Structural materials for aircraft engines and rocket nozzles

Reactor internal components and cladding materials in the nuclear industry

Corrosion-resistant components in environments exposed to nitric, hydrochloric, or sulfuric acid

Superconducting materials, medical instruments, and electronic components
