Introduction
A soft, stretchable transition metal whose oxide, niobium pentoxide, acts like aluminum oxide and zinc oxide to protect the interior of the metal from corrosion. Niobium can be added to stainless steel so that stainless steel is not easy to break at high temperatures, reduces the overheating sensitivity and tempering brittleness of steel, and improves the strength, toughness, and high-temperature creep performance. Niobium plate has a small thermal neutron absorption cross-section, good corrosion resistance, and high-temperature strength, and can be used as structural materials for atomic energy reactors and nuclear fuel packaging materials, and can also be used as additives for nuclear fuel.
