Product Description

TC6 Titanium Alloy Sheet Tensile strength 980 for compressor discs of aero-engines

The nominal titanium alloy plate tc6 composition is Ti-6Al-2.5Mo-1.5Cr-0.5Fe-0.3Si, it has good thermal processing properties and can be welded and machined in a variety of ways.

What Is Titanium Alloy Plate?

The weight-to-strength ratio of titanium alloy plates is superior to that of steel plates by a factor of 1.7, making them significantly lighter. The strength of titanium alloys can be enhanced by the addition of elements such as manganese, iron, molybdenum, aluminum, and vanadium. Titanium is a resilient metal that can withstand a variety of conditions and resists oxidation.

There are three distinct methods used to produce titanium plates in various shapes and sizes: hot rolling, cold rolling, and sintering. These processes continue until the desired size of the titanium alloy plate is achieved. To maintain high quality, our advanced equipment and scientific rolling technology ensure the integrity of the internal structure and surface appearance of the titanium plate.

We primarily supply pure titanium plates in grades Gr1, Gr2, Gr4, among others; and titanium alloy plates in grades 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 16, and 23.

The nominal composition of the titanium alloy plate TC6 is Ti-6Al-2.5Mo-1.5Cr-0.5Fe-0.3Si. A similar grade in Russia is BT3-1, which is an α-β martensitic dual-phase titanium alloy containing the α stabilizer Al and the β stabilizers Mo, Cr, Fe, and Si, with a stability factor of K=0.6. The typical condition of the alloy is annealed, and it may undergo suitable heat treatment. Its room temperature strength and thermal strength at 450 °C are higher than those of the TC4 alloy. It also possesses good thermal processing properties and can be welded and machined using various methods.

Its main advantages are in manufacturing parts such as compressor discs and blades for aero-engines. It can operate for over 6000 hours at 400 hours. The alloy can also serve as a medium-strength material for load-bearing structural components like frames and joints on titanium alloy aircraft, as well as for titanium alloy fasteners for diverse applications. The primary semi-finished products include bars, forgings, and die forgings.

Other titanium alloys such as TC1/OT4-1 Ti-2Al-1.5Mo titanium, TA19/titanium 6-2-4-2 alloy, TA16/PT-7M titanium plates, TA7/BT5/Gr6 titanium, and TC11/BT9 titanium alloy can also be produced.

TC6 Titanium Alloy Application

The TC6 titanium alloy plate is a material that boasts high strength coupled with low density, offering an exceptional combination of properties. It is particularly noted for its excellent corrosion resistance, which allows it to withstand harsh environments. Furthermore, this alloy maintains its strength at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for applications where high-temperature strength is critical. Additionally, it possesses good weldability, which facilitates fabrication and joining processes.

Predominantly used in the aerospace and defense sectors, the TC6 titanium alloy is integral in the manufacture of critical aircraft engine components such as compressor blades and discs. Its role extends to missile and spacecraft component production, emphasizing its importance in the aerospace industry where materials must meet stringent performance criteria.

Beyond aerospace, the TC6 alloy has found application in the biomedical field, particularly in the creation of orthopedic and dental implants. This is due to its biocompatibility and the ability to endure the physiological environment within the human body.

The alloy's strength and corrosion resistance are enhanced by the strategic addition of elements like chromium, molybdenum, iron, and silicon. These elements contribute to forming a robust matrix that resists wear and corrosion. Aluminum, on the other hand, is included to improve mechanical properties and enhance the alloy's overall weldability. The blend of these elements results in the Ti-6Al-2.5Mo-1.5Cr-0.5Fe-0.3Si composition, which signifies a versatile and dependable material suitable for a broad spectrum of applications.
