What Is Gr7 Titanium Plate?
Grade 7 Titanium Plate is a particular kind of titanium alloy plate that primarily consists of titanium with an addition of 0.12% to 0.25% palladium. This addition enhances its corrosion resistance properties significantly. As a low-density alloy, Grade 7 titanium exhibits superior corrosion resistance across various environments, including exposure to seawater, industrial acids, and moderate reducing conditions.
Its widespread use spans multiple sectors such as aerospace, marine, chemical processing, and medical industries, owing to its impressive strength-to-weight ratio coupled with outstanding corrosion resistance. The versatility of Grade 7 titanium plate is reflected in its availability in diverse sizes, thicknesses, and specifications to cater to the specific demands of different applications.
The production process for this titanium alloy involves melting titanium together with the palladium. The resulting mixture is then subjected to either hot or cold rolling processes to achieve the necessary thickness and shape. Post-formation, the plate typically undergoes annealing or stress-relieving treatments to enhance its mechanical attributes. Furthermore, the plate can be finished with a range of surface treatments like polishing, sandblasting, or anodizing to meet the specific requirements of the end use.

Acid Regeneration
Grade 7 Titanium Plate is frequently utilized in acid regeneration processes due to its exceptional resistance to corrosion, particularly in highly acidic environments. Acid regeneration is a crucial process within the chemical industry that involves the recovery and subsequent reuse of spent acids such as hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4), which are by-products of various chemical reactions.
In the context of acid regeneration, Grade 7 titanium plate material is commonly employed in the construction of acid tanks, heat exchangers, and other related process equipment that come into direct contact with these corrosive acids. The preference for Grade 7 titanium over other materials, like stainless steel, stems from its unparalleled resistance to acid corrosion, especially in applications involving high temperatures and pressures.
Referred to as Ti-Pd alloy, Titanium Grade 7 boasts enhanced anti-corrosion properties thanks to the addition of 0.12-0.25% Palladium. This increase in palladium content significantly elevates its corrosion resistance beyond that of Titanium Grade 2. With remarkable resistance to corrosion, the Grade 7 titanium plate adeptly handles exposure to saltwater and is well-suited for chloride media. Furthermore, it exhibits robustness against erosion and impact, making it a prime choice for use in chemical plants. These characteristics make it an ideal material for various stages of chemical production processes and related equipment.
