Product Description

Product Overview

The Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) Coated Tubular Anode is manufactured using Grade 1 Titanium with a purity of 99.6% as the substrate material.
It is coated with a Ruthenium–Iridium (Ru–Ir) or Iridium–Tantalum (Ir–Ta) oxide catalyst layer, which provides exceptional electrocatalytic activity, chemical stability, and durability in various electrochemical applications.

This type of anode is widely used in chlor-alkali, cathodic protection, water treatment, and electroplating systems, ensuring long service life and consistent performance.

Platinized Metal Anode Background

Platinum (Pt) is a noble metal with outstanding corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, and catalytic properties.
However, due to its high cost, solid platinum anodes are rarely used in industrial applications.
Instead, Platinized Metal Anodes (Pt Anodes) are produced by electrodepositing platinum onto specially treated metal substrates such as Titanium, Niobium, Tantalum, or Zirconium.

This electroplating process combines the superior electrochemical performance of platinum with the mechanical strength and cost efficiency of the substrate — offering an economical and high-performance anode solution.

Applications

Seawater electrolysis

Gold plating (gold potassium cyanide + citric acid baths)

Horizontal electroplating lines

Pulse plating processes

Cathodic protection systems

Suitable for both acidic and alkaline electrolytic environments

Manufacturing Process

Sand Blasting – Surface preparation to improve coating adhesion

Annealing – Relieves internal stress and enhances substrate ductility

Straightening – Ensures dimensional accuracy of tubular geometry

Acid Washing – Removes oxides and surface impurities

Brush Plating – Electrodeposition of platinum or MMO coating layer

Sintering – Promotes coating bonding and stability
