Advantages Compared With Aluminum Alloy.


1. GR5 titanium wire possesses higher thermal strength, allowing it to be used at service temperatures several hundred degrees higher than those for aluminum alloys. Grade 5 titanium wire can maintain the required strength at medium temperatures and is capable of operating for extended periods at temperatures ranging from 450 to 500°C. When considering specific strength, while aluminum alloys significantly decrease in strength at 150°C, GR5 titanium wire can withstand temperatures up to 500°C, whereas aluminum alloys typically cannot exceed 200°C.


2. The GR5 titanium wire offers superior corrosion resistance, performing excellently in moist atmospheres and seawater environments. Its resistance to corrosion far surpasses that of stainless steel; it is particularly impervious to pitting corrosion, acid corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It also exhibits outstanding resistance to alkalis, chlorides, chlorine-containing organic substances, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid. However, the corrosion resistance of GR5 titanium wire is poor against media containing reducing oxygen and chromium salts.
